Former Playboy pinup Dolly Read made a rare public appearance as she stepped out in Los Angeles last week.

The 81-year-old star, who is known for being the first-ever British Playboy Playmate, still rocked a nearly identical hairstyle to the one she had on her iconic magazine cover sixty years ago.

Read was effortlessly chic in a white zip-up top, black slacks and silver flats. She accessorized with a metallic silver bag and a stylish watch.

The English actress is best known for playing Kelly MacNamara, the lead character in the 1970 melodrama Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

She also delivered a memorable guest performance as Andrea Lassiter on Charlie’s Angels in the late 1970s.

In May 1966, she was named Playboy’s Playmate of the Month and later posed for the magazine again in 1968.

Read was previously married twice but both times were with comedian Dick Martin. The first time, they were married from 1971 to 1975.

The pair later reconciled and remarried in 1978, remaining happily married for 30 years before Martin passed away in 2008.

She is the stepmother to his two sons, television director Richard Martin and actor Cary Martin.

Her first onscreen appearance was a minor, uncredited role in the 1963 film Kiss of the Vampire.

That same year, she also kicked off her television career with a one-episode appearance in Dixon of Dock Green.

In addition to acting, she also started finding more success as a pinup model following her first onscreen appearance.

She posed for Playboy magazine twice in the late 60s and worked as a Playboy Bunny at Playboy Clubs in Chicago, London and New York City.

In 1969, she starred in the low-budget, erotic film That Tender Touch.

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls is a satirical rock-and-roll musical drama, which starred Read alongside Cynthia Myers, Marcia McBroom in the all-girl rock band.

The Russ Meyer-directed film was originally intended to serve as a sequel to the 1967 film Valley of the Dolls, the adaptation of the same-name novel by Jacqueline Susann.

However, Meyer, in collaboration with Roger Ebert, penned the story and screenplay as a satirical extension of the original film adaptation.

The movie received less than intended fanfare upon release but ended up becoming a box office success and later garnered a cult following.
