Adrian Portelli has come out swinging against The Block, following the show’s lacklustre finale that saw two houses passed in.
Portelli, 36, announced in July he would be turning his back on The Block and Channel Nine, and jumping ship rival show My Reno Rules on Seven.
‘They’re [The Block] completely out of touch and unrealistic,’ he told news.com.au on Wednesday.
‘The Block pitches themselves as a good opportunity for families to buy these famous homes, but these houses aren’t built for everyday Australians,’ he continued.
‘They are meant for the super-rich. Who is going to go and bid on them when they know they’re competing against billionaires?’
Portelli’s remarks come after WA couple Britt and Taz offloaded their stylish house for an impressive $3.41million.

With a reserve of $2.99million, the pair went home $420,000 richer – adding to that, a $100,000 bonus prize, netting them a total $520,000.
Elsewhere in the chat, the 36-year-old claimed he ‘pitched’ Seven’s upcoming renovation show My Reno Rules to Nine, but was turned down.
‘It was initially going to be with Channel Nine, but they lost interest,’ Portelli said, adding that the knockback was the real reason he parted ways with The Block.
It’s not the first time Portelli has lashed out at The Block.
On Sunday, just as fans learned that only three out of five of The Block’s Daylesford properties found buyers, Portelli took to Instagram to gloat over the poor results.
The businessman shared a graphic of The Block logo scribbled out in red, replaced with Channel Seven branding and a plug for My Reno Rules.
Portelli announced his involvement with MRR in July, and has been relentlessly plugging the show on his platforms since.
The show, produced by MasterChef creators Endemol Shine, is set to rival The Block and will feature four teams of renovators competing on two neighbouring rundown houses in Melbourne.

Just weeks after the show was announced, a builder walked off the set and there are whispers whether Portelli will take an on-screen role after he announced he was going to be part of the show.
Known as ‘Mr Lambo’, the high-flying entrepreneur has continually used social media to promote himself as one of the ‘faces’ of the series.
But insiders close to the troubled production have told Daily Mail that Portelli’s profile behind the scenes is near invisible.
According to a statement released by Seven last month, part of Portelli’s role will be to ‘manage’ the show’s ‘live prize draw’.
