Fashion mogul Marc Jacobs faced the ultimate ego killer when a sales associate at one of his very own stores failed to recognize him.
The 63-year-old designer – who boasts a staggering reported net worth of $200 million – suffered the hilariously humbling moment during a recent trip.
Jacobs filmed the awkward encounter and shared a video of himself shopping at his namesake boutique located inside an airport terminal.
The clip started out with him greeting the sales associate, before inquiring about a pair of earrings.
Though the retail worker was happy to assist him, she gave no indication of knowing that she was helping the man whose name is splashed across the storefront.
Looking into the camera, an amused Jacobs quipped, ‘Let’s see if we can go the whole way without her knowing who she’s helping.’

Jacobs then rated the store, stating, ‘Not bad, cute little selection for an airport.’
By the end of the clip, the designer took matters into his own hands and introduced himself to the associate, as he extended a hand and said, ‘I’m Marc Jacobs, it’s nice to meet you.’
The employee smiled politely, keeping her composure despite the surprise introduction.
