In a major top-level reshuffle, 32 senior police officers—including nine Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs)—have been transferred with immediate effect, following approval from the National Police Commission.
The reassignments, described as part of an administrative overhaul, affect 16 Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), two Superintendents of Police (SPs), and five Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).
DIG G.A.N.L. Wijesena has been moved from Kalutara to Badulla Division; DIG W.K.J.R. Dias takes over as DIG of the Central Criminal Investigation Division, while continuing in his current role in administration; DIG A.S.P.C. Wedamulla has been transferred from Badulla to Ampara Division; DIG G.H. Marapana has been moved from Western Province (South) to Jaffna Division; DIG J.A.K. Jayasinghe has been shifted from Jaffna to head the Legal Division; DIG T.G.N.W.D. Thalduwa has been assigned to Central CID to Monaragala Division; DIG G.N. De Soysa has been moved from Matara and Hambantota to the Welfare Division; DIG K.M.U.P. Kalupahan has been transferred to Western Province (South) from Monaragala and DIG W.J. Padmini from the Welfare Division to Kalutara.
SSP-level changes include: L.M.S. Bandara has been appointed Division head Kantale; W.V. Ginige has been transferred to Nikaweratiya; G. Sugath Kumara has been appointed Director, Transport Division; C.D. Liyanage to take charge in Homagama; W.A.T.K. Withanage, K.J.S. Karunasinha, S.H.D.J. Chandrakumara, M.M. Kumarasinghe, and N.R.H.P. Gunasekara have been given new operational and administrative roles across key divisions. W.A.W.C. Premasiri has been elevated to DIG, Matara and Hambantota.
Changes at SP level include: D.B.H. Kalanasiri has been transferred from Ampara from Bandarawela; S.P.K. Gallage has been appointed Director, Welfare Division; and J.H.M.N. Jayapathma has been moved to Gampaha.
ASP level transfers: C.A.S.B. Jayasundara has been transferred to Trincomalee and H.M.I.S. Nishantha to Colombo Crime Division; U.G.P.K. Rathnayake was initially posted to Trincomalee, but will now report to Thambuttegama; J. Haseemdeen has been moved to Gampaha and W.A.K.I.P. Premathilaka to Colombo Crime Division.
