Heather Rae El Moussa staunchly defended herself after a fan accused her of not having to ‘worry about money.’

During an Instagram Q&A this week, the 38-year-old Selling Sunset star – whose home was burglarized last month – insisted that she’s worked hard to reach millionaire status. Celebrity Net Worth reports that she’s worth $3 million while StyleCaster has placed her net worth at $15 million.

‘How does it feel to never have to worry about money?’ the question from one of her nearly three million followers read.

She answered in a video, ‘I think that’s a very unfair, rude question, but I’m glad that you asked because I’m sure other people just assume things about me as well, and my husband.’

Heather, who married husband Tarek El Moussa in 2021, added, ‘I came from a working class family. We did not have a lot of money. My dad, especially, was very poor growing up.’

She explained, ‘My dad was a truck driver – he worked his a** off. I never really saw my dad. He left at 5:30 in the morning, and would get home 8 o’clock at night to support our family.’

As for her mother, she said, ‘My mom cut hair and raised us, and when she went back to work again, then she became a librarian at an elementary school to be around me more, and my sister.’

Turning the focus to her husband, the reality TV star shared: ‘Tarek’s family came from another country and started their lives here, and built everything fresh, from scratch. So we didn’t come from money.

‘Tarek and I both, together and separately have worked very hard to get to where we are today.’

Heather is stepmom to Tarek’s two kids with ex-wife Christina Haack: daughter Taylor, 15, and son Brayden, 11 in August.

She and her husband also share three-year-old son Tristan.

Last month the family’s $5 million Newport Beach, California mansion was broken into while they vacationed in Mexico.

Another fan asked why she continues to post online when she’s not at home following the break-in.

‘I post life and it doesn’t always mean things are in real time. Also, there’s normally someone always at my house,’ she replied.

She answered in a video, 'I think that's a very unfair, rude question, but I'm glad that you asked because I'm sure other people just assume things about me as well, and my husband'

In June Heather and Tarek posted a joint statement on Instagram after news broke about the burglary.

The couple said they lost ‘irreplaceable family heirlooms and special memories.’

Heather followed up with another post shared to Instagram Stories, writing, ‘Thank you again to everyone that has reached out for support & love.

‘It didn’t go unnoticed. So sorry if we haven’t responded to them all. We are continuing to get back to our normal routine and prioritize our safety.’

The blonde beauty rose to fame as one of the original cast members on Selling Sunset, which premiered on Netflix in 2019.

She has since joined her husband on the HGTV series The Flip Off, where they star alongside Haack.
