Jerry O’Connell’s stolen car has been returned to him by police after it was stolen.
The 51-year-old actor took to social media on Friday to thank Malibu/Lost Hills Station for recovering his restored 1979 Cadillac.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told PEOPLE that the vehicle was stopped by an officer after it was caught speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway on January 14.
‘During the detention, the Sergeant observed that the driver appeared to be unhoused and, during questioning, was unable to identify the registered owner of the vehicle,’ the department told the outlet.
NBC Los Angeles reported that the car was returned to O’Connell before he knew it was missing.
The man who stole the Cadillac was arrested and booked at the Malibu/Lost Hills Station before promising to appear and being released after processing.

O’Connell confirmed the incident in multiple posts shared on X and Instagram.
He re-shared a post from the New York Post and commented, ‘Just to be clear, I am not the homeless man in this story. Very grateful for @LHSLASD THANK YOU!!!’
The Hollywood vet, who is married to model Rebecca Romijn, also took responsibility for the mishap.
He also shared the New York Post report to his Instagram account and captioned, ‘I left my keys in center console. MY BAD. This one is on me. Again, THANK YOU LOST HILLS SHERIFFS!!!’
A third post shared on X read: ‘Again @nypost I am not homeless and I did not steal Tom Cruise’s car. Thank You Lost Hills Sheriffs for getting my car back @LHSLASD.’
According to PEOPLE, four months earlier the actor was the victim of a different crime.
His cell phone, wallet, and cash were stolen from a Los Angeles-area yoga studio in September.
Per NBC Los Angeles, a woman took the items from O’Connell’s gym shoes while he was taking a fitness class.
‘I wear the same pair of dirty old sneakers to yoga class and before class I took them off and slipped my wallet and phone into the dirty shoes.
‘I’ve done that over 100 times — I know this because my app says I’ve taken 107 classes,’ he explained to PEOPLE.

O’Connell is married to model-actress Rebecca Romijn and they share daughters Charlie and Dolly, 17
Camera footage revealed the perpetrator – whose identity hasn’t been made public – saying, ‘Oh shucks, I’m late for class,’ before pretending the items were hers and stealing them.
She spent about $600 worth of credit before the Kangaroo Jack star was able to freeze his cards.
‘The only real bummer is that I had a photo of Rebecca from high school in my wallet, a four-leaf clover Jack McBrayer had given me, a $2 bill I got while shooting Stand By Me, and my grandfather Charles Witkowski’s obituary,’ he told the outlet.
O’Connell and Romijn tied the knot in 2007 and share 17-year-old twins Charlie and Dolly.
Following their 18th wedding anniversary in July, the couple appeared on Andy Cohen Live.
They confessed that a secret to their long-lasting relationship is maintaining separate bank accounts.
