Things are just getting more dramatic for Hollywood veteran Zendaya.

The Oakland, California native told Vogue Brazil that she has had a very ‘intense year’ as she returns to Euphoria and has four new films coming out.

The stunner – who wore a green-and-blue tassel dress for the cover – is not sure what to make of all the activity.

‘I think this is one of the most intense years of my life,’ Zendaya said.

In addition to Euphoria, she is also in The Drama with Robert Pattinson. And she is also playing goddess Athena opposite her fiancé Tom Holland in Christopher Nolan’s epic The Odyssey.

There is also Spider-Man: One More Day, also with Holland, and Dune: Part 3 with Timothee Chalamet.

‘It was only less intense than last year, when I was filming all these releases,’ she added.

And in a rare move, she talked her personal life.

She said the most important thing to her is being with her family. ‘We’re very close. I’m an aunt, and watching my nephews and nieces grow up is very important to me

‘They bring so much to my life, even without realizing it. Sometimes it’s simple things, like helping to redecorate my niece’s room.’

The cover girl also shared that her family has a nickname for her: ‘At that moment, I’m just Aunt Daya – and that’s everything.’

Zendaya talked a lot about her career journey.

‘This has been a year of wrapping up chapters with some characters I’ve grown with, of finishing their journey in a really beautiful way,’ noted the thespian.

‘That’s been interesting, revisiting a character like in the case of Spider-Man. But what’s interesting about this whole story is that I’m revisiting them at very different points in their lives.

‘In practically all of them, there’s been some kind of time jump since the last time we saw them. So, being able to understand a character in a new context has been interesting.’

Zendaya, who has been savvy about her movie role choices, also shared what she looks for in a script.

‘I think this is one of the most intense years of my life,’ Zendaya said. Seen in 2024

‘I like complex and interesting characters that challenge me and unfold. When I’m choosing roles, I get a lot of inspiration from the script,’ she admitted.

‘For me, it’s not easy to maintain attention for very long; I get distracted very easily when I’m reading.’

She also noted that when she reads a script that really captures her imagination then she knows she is on the right track.

‘It’s important that the work is exciting, but also a little scary—like, a little healthy fear about whether or not I’ll be able to embody the character is always good,’ said Zendaya.

‘It’s a challenge for me to complete. And, of course, filmmakers. Working with specific directors motivates me.’

The versatile actress added the characters teach her a lot.

‘Even though the characters might seem very different, there’s still a lot of personal emotion, my own, that I use in each of them,’ she noted.

‘And they all teach me something new about the world, and about myself, you know? They’re all parts of me or facets of me. It’s inevitable that they influence me in some way. Especially when I get attached to them, which happens to me quite a lot. It’s kind of inevitable to take a little bit of them home with me.’

And it’s healthy to step back once the film is done. ‘But I usually believe in separating that, ultimately, these are characters and I try to keep their emotional lives just on screen, on set. When the director says “cut,” I usually try to detach myself from them somehow.’

She also shared what her current mood is: super relaxed.

‘I’m in relaxed mode right now, so I practically only wear pajamas. My current obsession is pajama sets,’ she said.

And she named her favorite red carpet look: ‘I wore a look inspired by Joan of Arc. It was like wearing a knight’s armor, literally. It made me feel very powerful and confident. It was one of my favorites.’

The magazine shared on Instagram: ‘One of the greatest actresses of her generation—and one of the most passionate about fashion—@zendaya graces the cover of #VogueMaio, marking her debut in *Vogue Brasil* during the month of our 51st anniversary.

‘Navigating the most pivotal phase of her career, with five releases this year alone, the actress was photographed by our team in Los Angeles, with styling by Law Roach (@luxurylaw)—with whom she shares one of the industry’s most fruitful and creative partnerships—alongside our Fashion Director, @ritalazzarotti.

‘In an exclusive conversation with Director @marialauraneves, Zendaya revealed that, from a very early age, she understood that fashion would be an ally in building her career—and a way to make the film promotional circuit (which is, in her words, “not always that fun”) more interesting. “All this work helped me create an identity and gave me a great deal of confidence; it was incredibly important.”’ vogue.com.br
