Jonah Hill’s former contemporary mansion in Malibu has been listed on the market for $13.25 million, three years after the actor packed up and moved to San Diego for a quieter life.

The Superbad star, 42, left his native Los Angeles for a low-key coastal town to raise his two children with wife Olivia Millar, far away from the spotlight.

He had only lived at the home a year before selling it in 2022 for $11.1 million, which was $2.1 million more than what he paid for it. He also ditched his luxurious New York City abode the same year for $10.56 million.

Located in the exclusive and guard-gated Malibu Colony enclave between Pacific Coast Highway and the Pacific Ocean, the property boasts both mountain views and generous glimpses of ocean.

It comes with private key beach access and lots of indoor-outdoor entertaining spaces.

The recently renovated residence is listed by Dustin Nicholas of The Nicholas Property Group and includes 3,653 square feet with four bedrooms and four baths, and a soaring living room with dramatic fireplace.

Staging and design was accomplished by Vesta Home‘s Tiara Coughlan, who honored the home’s ‘effortless California cool while subtly elevating each room through layered textures, organic tones and warm contemporary detailing.’

The double-height living area is to die for as it embodies the warmth and air of Malibu with its glass-walled gallery and light walls.

Black-framed windows stack up from floor to ceiling and allow in natural light.

Steps away is the kitchen with warm wood cabinetry, modern sink and clean-lined, white countertops.

A spoked chandelier hangs over the dining room, which would lend ambiance to any dinner party, large or small.

Upstairs the primary suite features a fireside sitting area framed by ebony slatted walls.

The master bath includes a his-and-hers vanity, oversized custom shower, soaking tub, sauna, and access to a third-level rooftop deck with ‘peekaboo’ ocean views perfect for entertaining friends and family.

There are several lounge areas to choose from both indoor and outdoor, depending on one’s preference.

French doors open to a private backyard oasis with lush landscaping. A lagoon-style pool and spa await, plus an outdoor kitchen and lots of room for entertaining guests.

Hill, who recently welcomed his second child with his fashion designer wife, spoke about his decision to leave Los Angeles for a simpler life away from the glitz and glamour during a live recording of the SmartLess podcast.

‘So I live in a very small town in San Diego, and it’s amazing, and my neighbors are incredible people,’ he said.

‘And when we had our first kid, we moved out there three years ago. I wanted to leave LA and raise a family outside of Los Angeles.’

The Wolf of Wall Street actor has still been able to travel back and forth for work, but he’s appreciated being away from the Hollywood bubble.

He added: ‘[My neighbors] never treat me weird or ask me about my job or anything.

‘And my neighbor is one of my great friends, Dr Sean, he never asked. He’s here tonight. He never bothered me or was like, “Oh, what’s this person like?”‘

Despite being glad to have moved away, Hill has fond memories growing up in LA around the freedom and punk rock culture.

‘I grew up here. LA was such a cool place to grow up in the ’90s because you could go skateboard downtown or you could sneak into a movie premiere or you could go sneak into a comedy club and see Chris Rock or something,’ he said.

‘You had access to show business stuff, but you had access to punk and skating and graffiti and all the naughty stuff. And there was no internet. It was just so awesome.’

Hill also recently revealed that the only thing he’ll take time away from his family for is ‘editing’ a movie, because he loves the process so much.

Speaking to Martin Scorsese, who appears in his latest film Outcome, for Interview magazine, he said: ‘I have two kids now. The only thing that could ever separate me from my family is the editing room.

‘I love the writing, I love the shooting, but editing… it’s like dessert every day. Even the problems are dessert.’

Hill, meanwhile, recently made his long-awaited comeback in Outcome, a dark comedy film he directed, co-wrote and stars in alongside Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer.

Speaking about the film to Extra, Hill said: ‘Getting these guys together was the greatest thing of all time. I’m the most blessed director on the planet.’

‘Cameron is an actual angel that fell from heaven, and she is not only, like, an iconic classic movie star. When she came on the screen for her camera test or something, we’re all back there like, “Whoa, we’re making a real movie.”

‘As an actor, she gives the best performance of her career, in my opinion… knockout performance. And as a person, she just supported me and continues to support me in such a real way… She is just the perfect friend and artist. Combination actually of those two.’

Hill also singled out Reeves, 61, for praise, telling the outlet: ‘I just love [Keanu]. I love My Own Private Idaho and Parenthood and everything since. And I said, “This guy’s an amazing actor. I want to see him go all out. I want to see him play different stuff than I’ve seen him play.”’

The movie debuted on Apple+ TV on April 10.

He’s also set to star in and direct the sartorial comedy Cut Off, which is about two wealthy siblings who are forced to act their age when their parents cut them off financially.
