News Room : Hugh Jackman’s new girlfriend appears to take a swipe at Kylie Jenner as she shares makeup-free selfie from Met Gala prep

Sutton Foster has taken a subtle swipe at Kylie Jenner after making her Met Gala debut with partner Hugh Jackman.

The Broadway star, 51, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a very youthful-looking selfie, taken during her Met Gala preparations.

Sutton was positively glowing in the photo, which showed her makeup free with her eyes closed and sporting a contented grin.

‘Because filters don’t follow you around in life,’ Sutton captioned the glow-up post.

The comment appeared to be a subtle dig at the likes of Kylie Jenner, who was accused of sharing some more flattering images of herself to social media compared to the red carpet images from Getty.

One glamorous selfie posted to her Instagram stories looked noticeably different to some of the harsher red carpet shots, where she was caught in bad lighting and unappealing camera angles.

However, her Met Gala photos on Instagram didn’t appear to be heavily edited, so it’s more likely that she selected photos taken with flattering lighting as opposed to actually airbrushing anything on her page.

In 2023, Kylie confirmed that she no longer heavily edits her social media photos.

‘I just feel like we have huge influence and like what are we doing with that power?’ she said in an episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians.

‘I just see so many young girls on the internet now fully editing [their pictures]. Like, the editing!’ she continued. ‘I went through that stage too. I feel like I’m in a better place. But other people can instill insecurities in you.’

Fans also accused Beyoncé of Photoshopping her Met Gala social media photos to look more flattering.

They noticed that the 44-year-old, who served as an official co-chair at this year’s Met Gala, looked different in her red carpet photos compared to the glossy private photoshoot that she shared on Instagram and her official website.

The Single Ladies hitmaker had smoother skin and a slimmer jawline in the photos she released herself, while certain red carpet shots featured some more unflattering angles and lighting.

‘In the pictures she’s uploaded on her website and Instagram, yes her face has clearly been Facetuned,’ wrote one fan.

They added, ‘Me pointing that out isn’t me saying she’s not gorgeous by the way, because a lot of celebrities edit their photos. I’m just saying they should not do too much.’

Another commented, ‘Beyoncé posting them facetuned pics after we all just saw her.’

Meanwhile, Hugh and Sutton looked totally smitten as they were often caught sharing loving glances during their Met Gala debut.

Hugh towered over Sutton in a black tuxedo with a stylish velvet jacket and shiny dress shoes.

The Wolverine star had a clean-shaven face and his short brunette hair was slicked back with gel.

Sutton was the picture of elegance in a glittering gold one-shoulder gown with a matching jewelled clutch.

Their Met Gala debut as a couple comes amid rumours that a wedding between the pair is close at hand.

Back in February, the Globe claimed that Hugh rejected the idea of drawing up a prenup with the Broadway star.

The alleged wedding planning comes less than a year after Hugh and Deborra-Lee finalised their bitter divorce.

The exes, who first separated in 2023, share two adult children: son Oscar, 25, and daughter Ava, 20.

The Met Gala became a tradition for them in the latter years of their marriage, with the couple making back-to-back appearances in 2017 and 2018.

Hugh and Sutton’s Met Gala debut was not without controversy, though, with The Greatest Showman star slammed by fans for his choice of date.

‘Thumbs down! It’s forever team Debbie over here!!’ one person sniped.

‘Poor Deborra,’ a second added, while another added: ‘Not a fan’.

The actor finalised his divorce from Furness last June, after 27 years of marriage, while his romance with Foster began in late 2024, following their starring roles in Broadway’s 2021 revival of The Music Man.
