Fans holding out hope for a Married At First Sight reunion between Chris Nield and his on-screen bride Brook Crompton are set for a major letdown.
The 31-year-old construction supervisor has revealed he will not be returning for the highly anticipated reunion finale – confirming viewers won’t be seeing the pair come face-to-face when the cast reunites later this month.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Chris admitted he wasn’t invited back by producers, offering a cheeky explanation for his absence.
‘To put it pure and simply, I’m a pain in the a**. I just don’t do what I’m told and I love to have a bit of fun,’ he laughed.
The groom suggested his exclusion may have also come down to Brook’s own absence from the special, with producers deciding there was little point bringing him back without his former match.
‘I think it was easier in their mind because they already knew Brook wasn’t coming back. So they thought, “Why should we bring Chris when he is just going to be an absolute pain?”‘ he said.

But Chris didn’t exactly help his case, revealing he had plans to stir chaos at the reunion dinner table.
‘And to be fair, they probably made the right decision ’cause I had so many things planned,’ he said.
‘I was going to bring some fart bombs and while the dinner table was going and someone was having a serious conversation, I was just going to start throwing fart bombs under the table.’
Despite his playful antics, Chris insisted there was no major fallout with production behind the scenes.
He explained that the decision ultimately came down to concerns around ‘duty of care’, with producers opting not to include him in the high-pressure reunion environment.
‘It’s funny because then I’m invited to Stan show, which is run by EndemolShine Australia [the same production company as MAFS],’ he added.
The revelation comes as fans gear up for what is expected to be one of the most explosive reunion episodes yet, with multiple feuds, shock walkouts and unseen drama set to unfold.
The bombshell revelation comes just days after Daily Mail exclusively revealed Brook had quietly reunited with her former partner Harry, with footage showing the pair kissing and cuddling while decorating a Christmas tree in October – just weeks after her on-screen marriage to Chris imploded off-camera.

He added everything began to make sense once filming wrapped, claiming Brook quickly slipped back into her old life. (Brook pictured with her ex Harry)
Speaking to Daily Mail earlier this year, Chris insisted that there is no bad blood; he admits the signs were there all along.
‘I just don’t think she was in the right place for a new relationship to form,’ he said.
‘Obviously finding out during the show that she’d slept with her ex two days before we actually got married… looking at it now, I’m just feeling like if she was doing that, she wasn’t ready.’
He added everything began to make sense once filming wrapped, claiming Brook quickly slipped back into her old life.
‘She posted some sort of TikTok… three, four weeks after we finished, she’s back with him living in his apartment,’ he alleged.
While their connection showed promise early on, Chris revealed the relationship was plagued by tension behind the scenes – with Brook repeatedly threatening to walk away.
‘We were both very particular people. And I think the environment just got to us multiple times,’ he said.
‘If one of us felt sh*t, the other one would jump on board and feel sh*t as well. So like she obviously left the first weekend… little things, but everything just compiled and made her sort of just wanna to get out of there and get back home.’
Chris also opened up about his own struggles during filming, admitting the pressure cooker environment brought out the worst in him.

‘My personality doesn’t suit it at all,’ he said.
‘I got frustrated all the time… being kept in my room without a phone… I was just spiralling the whole time.’
Despite the drama, he insisted he never signed up for fame and was approached by producers rather than applying himself.
‘It wasn’t my idea. No. I got a phone call,’ he said, revealing he had previously tried out for Big Brother and Survivor.
‘I really didn’t want to initially because I just thought the whole concept was a bit bizarre and strange. Then it was literally just perfect timing… I was working a job in the city, just bored outta my mind… so I thought, “F**k it, why not?”‘
Chris described their wedding day as ‘awesome’ and said he was initially attracted to Brook, but claimed things shifted almost immediately after a comment from one of his mates about her height.
‘She told me it wasn’t until… day two or three [of the honeymoon] that she changed her opinion and realised that we actually connected really well on a personality level,’ he said.
By the time they moved into the apartments, he believed they were one of the strongest couples.
The reunion will see some of the show’s most popular couples return for two nights later this month
‘Compared to everyone else I felt we had more of a connection based on similarities and personality,’ he said.
But ultimately, Chris now believes Brook’s unresolved feelings for her ex – and her pull towards the familiar – meant the relationship was doomed from the start.
‘She was going back to something familiar because she was worried about this new experience,’ he claimed.
He also lifted the lid on their explosive final week, revealing both he and Brook had booked flights to leave before their final commitment ceremony.
