News Room : Disgraced Marvel star Jonathan Majors set to make comeback in CONSERVATIVE movie

0

Ousted Marvel star Jonathan Majors is making his return to film with a conservative movie co-produced by right-wing influencer Ben Shapiro.

The actor – who was convicted of assault for an attack on his girlfriend – has been in South Carolina shooting the action film for the production companies Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, Deadline reports.

Not much is known about the movie, as both production companies are keeping the title, plot and other cast members under wraps.

But the film is supposedly similar to the ’80s and ’90s films ‘Red Dawn’ and ‘Toy Soldiers,’ both of which are about a group of teenage boys who have to band together to defeat invading enemies.

Kyle Rankin, who previously produced Run Hide Fight for The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, is directing the film from his own screenplay.

Shapiro, meanwhile, is producing the film for The Daily Wire, and Dallas Sonnier is producing for Bonfire Legend. Other producers include Travis Mills, Lillian Campbell and Sydney Aucreman.

‘You’re not going to BELIEVE what we’re doing,’ Shapiro shared to X following the news of Major’s return.

But others were taken aback by news of the former A-lister’s return.

One X user wrote: ‘Jonathan Majors was supposed to be the next big star of Hollywood and now he’s doing “Ben Shapiro” and “The Daily Wire” movies.’

Shapiro teased the project on social media on Thursday

‘This man went from [three] blockbusters in one year to making a movie with BEN SHAPIRO,’ another added, while a third commented about his career trajectory.

‘In 2020, Jonathan Majors was starring in a Spike Lee film, had an HBO series and was set to be the focal point of the next phase of MCU movies,’ the X user wrote.

‘This is a generational bag-fumbling that will be talked about for years.’

Majors had made a name for himself starring in ‘Creed III’ and HBO’s ‘Lovecraft Country.’ He was then primed to be the next big MCU villain as Kang the Conqueror after his brief introduction in the TV series ‘Loki’ and in 2023’s ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’

However, after he was arrested for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in March 2023, and later found guilty of 3rd degree reckless assault and harassment, Marvel dropped him.

The studio then announced at the San Diego Comic Con in July 2024, that Robert Downey Jr. would play Doctor Doom, making him the villain for the next two Avengers movies.

It also revealed that the film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty – would be changed, confirming at SDCC that it would now be called Avengers: Doomsday.

Days after the announcement, Majors told TMZ he was ‘heartbroken’ by the new direction Marvel was heading in.

Majors was then asked whether he thought it was ‘unfair’ that he was not ‘given the same opportunities’ as Downey Jr and Ezra Miller, who starred as the Flash in DC films, given that he was only convicted of misdemeanor assault.

‘I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love and that Mr. Miller has gotten the same treatment, and that they’re being allowed to work their art,’ Majors replied at the time. ‘I didn’t really get that, so, you know.’

Downey Jr. was arrested in 1996 for DUI, when officers found heroin, crack, cocaine and a .357 Magnum in his car.

He was sentenced to three years in prison for skipping his probation, serving one year of his three-year sentence before his release.

After several years of struggling with addiction, he ultimately got clean, and has been for many years, before his comeback that started with 2008’s Iron Man.

He was ultimately pardoned in 2015 by then-California governor Jerry Brown, which restored his voting rights and allowed him to serve on a jury.

Miller has also had a slew of legal issues over the past few years, including a 2022 felony burglary charge stemming from the theft of several bottles of alcohol.

Meanwhile, Majors was found guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge and one harassment violation.

His ex-girlfriend Jabbari said Majors hit her head with his open hand, twisted her arm behind her back and squeezed her middle finger until it fractured during a chaotic struggle in the back of an SUV.

She also testified that he had been controlling and manipulative during their relationship.

She accused him of having angry outbursts at home in which he would break household items by throwing them at the walls.

Jabbari also claimed that Majors tried to control who she was allowed to spend time with socially.

Majors was ultimately ordered to complete a yearlong counseling program but avoided jail time.

In sentencing Majors, Judge Michael Gaffey noted both sides in the case agreed the charges didn’t warrant jail time and that Majors had no prior criminal record.

In November 2025, Majors and Jabbari also settled a civil lawsuit she filed against him, as both agreed to dismiss the litigation.

Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good tied the knot last year, but will not be celebrating their one-year anniversary together as Majors shoots his new film in South Carolina

The one-time Emmy-nominated actor has since tied the knot with actress Meagan Good, who told TMZ earlier this week that they would not be celebrating their first anniversary together because Majors was filming a project.

‘It’s a blessing,’ she said of his return to film. ‘It’s been a journey, you know, arguable, I mean he’s one of the best talents I’ve ever seen.

‘It’s beautiful to see him getting back to doing what he loves and what God’s gifted him with, so I’m just thanking God.’

Majors is also set to star in a supernatural revenge thriller entitled Merciless for Martin Villeneuve, the younger brother of Dune director Denis Villeneuve.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Majors’ agents, as well as The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend for comment.
