Dr Chris Brown found it very difficult to keep his eye on the ball when he stepped out to watch the cricket this week.

The celebrity vet, 47, was enjoying a day at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Wednesday, watching Australia take on England on the fourth day of the fifth Ashes Test.

However, a very surprising item tempted his attention away from the pitch, along with many more cricket enthusiasts.

Taking to Instagram, Dr Chris shared a clip that showed him sitting in the stands of the iconic sporting ground, augmented with the strains of The Backstreet Boys hit I Want It That Way.

Rather than keeping an eye on the action, he was transfixed by an inflated condom that was blowing effortlessly in the breeze.

As Dr Chris’ camera followed the pumped-up prophylactic around the ground, it became apparent that many people in the crowd were also charting its course.

‘Can one condom distract an entire stadium… of adults?’ he asked in the clip’s caption.

Dr Chris went on to explain: ‘Condom takes off from one side of the SCG, flies directly over the pitch during play to the opposite side of the ground with 40,000 people glued to that condom… not the cricket.’

Answering his original question, Chris wrote: ‘So… yes. Yes, it can.’

The hilarious post was met with a deluge of comments from followers, including Married At First Sight star Duncan James, who confirmed Dr Chris’ story.

‘Haha can confirm it got the biggest reaction of the day,’ the reality groom wrote, to which Chris replied: ‘It really did. A real scene stealer.’

Actress Lisa McCune also quipped: ‘Playing it safe,’ while another follower added: ‘And they say Aussies have no culture.’

The alleged source of the floating condom also jumped into the comments to claim credit for the launch.

‘We were the ones that sent this magical “balloon” on its way,’ they wrote. ‘Shoutout our mate Murray for this one – what a legend.’

'Can one condom distract an entire stadium... of adults?' he asked in the clip's caption.

The light-hearted post came after Dr Chris joined a chorus of Australian and global celebrities paying tribute to the victims of last month’s Bondi Beach terror attack that left 15 innocent people dead.

Posting an image to Instagram that showed a full moon rising over Bondi Beach, the celebrity vet admitted he was struggling to come to grips with how the ‘peaceful’ Bondi community had been shattered.

‘I’m still in disbelief. It’s a tragedy that’s so unfathomable for this community that’s all about shared moments of joy… and peace,’ wrote the star of long-running series Bondi Vet.
