Claire Foy has said juggling motherhood and work is a ‘logistical s*** show’ as she discussed the challenges of the entertainment industry for her cover issue with Harper’s Bazaar UK
The Crown actress, 41, explained: ‘I mean… having a job and being a parent is a logistical s*** show – that’s the truth of it’
She said: ‘I think the industry struggles with women between the age of 45 and 60. They don’t really know what to do with them.
‘They’re like, who are you? You’re not a mother. Are you a mother? Or are you a grandmother? I
‘I’ve always felt that it’s my responsibility to play the women I know and like, who are out there… And if I’m able to do that, I will.’
Elsewhere in the interview, Claire shared her thoughts on social media and why she chooses not to get involved in public discourse.
She explained: ‘What I believe and who I am and where I stand on things is constantly in flux, as much as it is for everyone else, and I have absolutely no authority to discuss or proclaim about anything other than what I do as an actor.
‘If you’re just making noise for the sake of it, then you should probably shut up – so I tend to shut up.’
Sharing her hatred towards social media she added: ‘I am vitriolic in my hatred of it [social media].
There has to be some sort of medium where it enhances and makes life better, not just much worse – and I don’t really think that’s happening at the moment.

‘It’s very strange to watch these things happen from the outside – to see that everything is changing, and I don’t feel I’m changing with it.’
It isn’t the first time Claire has spoken out about motherhood after she revealed she was taking time off from acting to be with her daughter Ivy back in 2019 when she was just three years-old.
She told WSJ Magazine at the time: ‘I am very confident in saying I deserve a rest. It’s lovely, completely self-indulgent. I only have a year left with her. I just can’t bear it.’
She added: ‘I just didn’t get life until I was 32. Now I am just awake. It is that thing that you suddenly have your eyes opened to the way you are living your life, who you are, the healthy way you are supposed to.’
The February issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK is on sale from 02 January.
