Magda Szubanski has provided fans with a health update following her shock stage 4 cancer diagnosis in May.
The comedian, who is currently battling an aggressive blood cancer called Mantle Cell Lymphoma, humorously revealed in an Instagram video on Sunday she was in her ‘chemo couture’ phase after shaving her head ahead of her chemotherapy treatment.
In the clip, the 64-year-old appeared upbeat and cheerful as she thanked drag queen act Trixie and Katya for being fans of her hit sitcom Kath and Kim.
‘I know I’m late to this but so many people have sent me links of Katya and Trixie watching Kath and Kim, and loving it and laughing along with us and loving the characters,’ she said.
‘I just wanted to say thank you. I really appreciate your appreciation.’
She then shared a little-known fact about her character on the beloved Aussie series, revealing the surprising inspiration behind her sports-loving character Sharon Strzelecki’s bob hairdo.

‘Sharon’s hair is actually a nod to the Dorothy Hamill wedge,’ she joked.
‘Dorothy Hamill being an ice-skater in the late 70s who had a very sensible haircut because every sporty girl needs a sensible, functional fitness hair-do.
‘Mine is courtesy of chemo couture,’ she further quipped.
Magda kept the laughs coming in the caption of the post, writing: ‘Maybe I now qualify to come on the Bald and the Beautiful?? #chemocoiffure’
It comes after Magda shared a moving message from her hospital bed in August.
The beloved Aussie star posted a clip showing her resting in bed and thanking a young fan for their act of kindness.
‘This is a special shout-out to 10-year-old Annabella in Adelaide. Thank you so much for your impression of Sharon. I’m in here having chemo and it really cheered me up,’ Magda began.
‘I’m very touched, that was a beautiful thing to do. Thank you my sweet’.

Magda then provided fans with a health update, saying: ‘Chemo is smacking me around right now and you really cheered me up. Bless you my darling,’ she continued.
In May, Magda announced on social media that she was battling a rare form of cancer known as Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
She appeared on camera with a shaved head after beginning her treatment to fight the disease.
‘Hello my lovelies. So, the head is shaved in anticipation of it all falling out in a couple of weeks because I have just been diagnosed with a very rare, very aggressive, very serious lymphoma,’ she began.
‘It is one of the nasty ones, unfortunately. The good thing is I’m surrounded by beautiful friends, family and an incredible medical support team.
‘Honestly, we have the best in the world here in Australia, particularly in Melbourne. I feel very fortunate.
‘It’s pretty confronting. It is full on. But new treatments keep coming down the pipeline all the time.’
Magda said she has started a treatment called the Nordic protocol, which treats MCL by shrinking the tumours with a combination of drugs administered in five phases.
